erik rug

erik 'dirty jesus' rug was born in vittel, france in the sixties, moved to paris in the 70's and began playing at the first house parties called discomuzak (`81 `89) with laurent garnier at the now infamous locomotive club. his production work started and his vinyl first outing was on rapino in 1991 as the '2 frenchmen' with "black planet". between 1992 and 1994 he continued building his knowledge and love of music channelling this through a series of 3 ep's released on the toronto underground label under the monicker of Waxworx.

his loyalty to the underground was rewarded with a weekly radio show on the respected fg 98.2 called "waxgroove" on which he could really play in his unique style, he stayed at the station for four years until 1996 when the biggest underground station radio nova 101.5 poached him for their key saturday night show.

during this time he started djing the "temple party" on saturdays at the rex club in paris and is still there now playing to a packed club full of crazy parisians. he is a monthly resident at london's plastic people and has played at the infamous deep house night in manchester" robodisco" on many occasion.

erik has had two releases on paper recordings as dirty jesus ("cut a rug" and "don't fuck with my shit") with a project current underway with si brad.
